This programme is designed for people who wish to gain an understanding of principles and practice of health & safety in the workplace; and will be suited to anyone who needs to gain a practical understanding of their role and responsibility for health & safety.  No prior knowledge is required.

The objectives of the course are to:

• Describe the legal framework within which workplace health & safety operates
• Explain control systems for ensuring health & safety is properly managed
• Analyse policy and practice in relation to workplace health
• Analyse policy & practice in relation to workplace safety
• Analyse policy & practice in relation to workplace welfare

Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies.

Unit 3 Workplace Health

• Comfortable working condition
• Smoking
• Alcohol drugs and substance abuse
• COSHH
• Manual handling

• People with disabilities
• Health surveillance

Unit 4 Workplace Safety

• Clean working conditions
• Suitable and safe working equipment
• Preventing slipping and tripping
• Transparent and translucent surfaces
• Windows, skylights, ventilators, doors and gates
• Safety of escalators and walkways
• Fire safety
• Electrical safety
• PPE

Unit 5 Workplace Welfare

• Legal requirements
• Toilets and washing facilities
• Drinking water
• Meal breaks
• Rest facilities
• Changing and storing clothing
• Working time

Entry Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds. Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. 

All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.

*You will have access to the course for 24 months.

On successful completion of your course you will receive the learndirect Certificate of Completion of Training in Workplace Health and Safety.

Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.
